Marie now offers three processing modes in the iPhone interface. The most recent change is to the middle mode: an external model can help plan a request, while a local agent carries out the work.

What the planner can see

The external planner receives the request you write. It does not receive your files, attachments, conversation history, memory, tool results, or the final answer. After the plan is created, the local agent takes responsibility for reading material, using tools, recovering from errors, and responding.

A boundary that survives failure

If local execution fails or takes too long, Marie does not silently switch that work to an external model. The failure remains within the local path.

What this does—and does not—mean

This mode is not fully local: information you include in your request is sent to the external planner. The boundary describes model data flow; it does not add an operating-system sandbox. Those distinctions need to remain clear in the interface.

The change has been installed in the owner alpha. Full end-to-end reliability and latency comparisons remain ongoing work.
